The St. Louis Cardinals will be without third basemen Troy Glaus for atleast three months as he recovers from shoulder surgery. Dr. Lewis Yocum performed the operation in Los Angeles on Glaus’s throwing shoulder. The procedure cleaned out the shoulder so hopefully Glaus will be pain free when making throws.

Glaus addressed reporters over the weekend at the annual Cardinals Care Winter Warm-Up and made no mention of any physical malady that had plagued him this winter.

Once again this is one of those deals that make you really think. Why didn’t Glaus have surgery a few weeks after the season was over? I don’t get it why athletics always wait around forever before going under the knife. Had this surgery been done earlier, Glaus would have been able to partake in spring training and not miss any time in the regular season.

The St. Louis Cardinals are one hurt team right now as they placed six pitchers and one outfielder on the disabled list. All listings are retroactive back to March 21st.

Chris Carpenter, Matt Clement, Joel Pineiro, Josh Kinney, Mark Mulder, and Tyler Johnson are the six pitchers that were put on the disabled list.

Juan Encarnacion was the outfielder put on the list.

The Cardinals are going to have a rough season if they can’t get some of those pitchers healthy. They are going to need them if they want to have any shot in the National League Central.
