With St. Louis Cardinals star Albert Pujols hitting his 400th career homer and Alex Rodriguez having recently reached the 600-homer mark, now is a great time for a guy who served up a homer to each slugger to compare and contrast the two future Hall of Famers: Facing A-Rod Rodriguez did minimal damage against me in my career. St. Louis Cardinals star Albert Pujols hit his 400th home run Thursday, a solo shot to right-center in the fourth inning against the Washington Nationals. He becomes the 47th player to reach that career milestone. Pujols led off the fourth inning by sending an 0-1 fastball from Nationals starter Jordan Zimmermann into the right-center seats. The drive broke a three-way tie with Al Kaline and Andres Galarraga for 47th place on baseball's career list.

The St. Louis Cardinals have placed left-hander Dennys Reyes on the 15-day disabled list with elbow soreness and recalled right-hander Fernando Salas from Triple-A Memphis. Salas is 0-0 with a 2.51 ERA in 12 games with St. Louis, allowing four runs — including three homers — in 14 1-3 innings. Reyes has pitched in 50 games, going 2-1 with a 3.94 ERA in 32 innings.
