St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Kyle Lohse threw a two-inning simulated game and is set to begin a rehab assignment next week, barring a setback. Lohse is recovering from forearm surgery in late May. He says he was encouraged by Wednesday's workout, but wants to avoid getting overly enthusiastic. Lohse, 1-4 with a 5.89 ERA in nine starts, could join the Cardinals' rotation early next month.
